The Chinook Hockey League held its AGM this past weekend and the following was discussed from the meeting:
Sam Maupin has resigned from her position of president. Sam has been an integral part in senior hockey, providing a strong voice for the interests of not just the CHL, but senior hockey in Alberta as a whole. Sam will stay on as VP in a transition role to help a future incoming president.
Vice president Jerry Muise has been named president and he will remain in the role in an interim basis until a suitable candidate is found. Jerry has provided another great voice for senior hockey in Alberta and has strong connections to the past history of the CHL.
The league welcomes back Cremona, Innisfail, and Stony Plain. Teams agreed to play a balanced schedule, similar to last year. Each team will play 12 regular season games, 6 home and 6 away.
The playoff format will be a first round best of 3 between the 2nd and 3rd seed, 1st place will receive a first round bye. The winner of the best of 3 will play the 1st seed in a best of 5 which will determine the league and provincial champion. This will take the season from a mid October start, right up into early April with a short break before a potential Allan Cup.
