At Our general meeting in June 2017 all the teams unanimously decided to change the name of the Chinook Hockey League to the Allan Cup Hockey West League. This had been brought up at previous meetings as the Ontario league had changed its name to Allan Cup Hockey. The 5 Chinook teams felt this name change would better suit the league and better inform the public that the league is a true Senior AAA league in which the teams aspire to compete for and win the Allan Cup (Canada's Oldest Amateur Hockey Trophy, beginning in 1908) .
The ACHW is looking forward to the upcoming season with Rosetown hosting the Allan Cup in April 2018. In the past 19 seasons, teams from our league have won the Allan Cup 6 times with the Lacombe (Bentley) Generals being the most recent in 2016.
